Strengthening Global Collaboration: ARWADEX Association Press Conference on Water Desalination

10-9-2024
A press conference for the ARWADEX Association was held yesterday evening at the Intercontinental Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This significant event is part of ongoing efforts to enhance international water desalination and reuse partnerships. During the conference, a strategic partnership agreement was announced to organize a series of events promoting development, sustainability, and innovation in various fields, including water desalination, sewage technology, and water reuse, among others.

The partnership between TSG-EXICON and Expotec was highlighted, with their first significant outcome being the organization of the ARWADEX Regional Water Desalination Conference in collaboration with the International Waste Water Infrastructure Exhibition (IWWI).

The conference hosted a high-level delegation from Germany, comprising experts and researchers in water desalination and reuse technologies. Participants emphasized the importance of this partnership in addressing the growing water needs in the Middle East, which faces environmental and climatic challenges that lead to water scarcity. Speakers from both Saudi Arabia and Germany discussed the positive impact of exchanging expertise, knowledge, and modern technologies in developing innovative solutions to ensure the sustainability of water sources.

The conference also addressed the implications of this agreement for improving water desalination quality and enhancing water security in Arab countries. Attendees highlighted that these initiatives are proactive, representing strategic steps towards a sustainable future for upcoming generations. This partnership exemplifies the potential for strengthening ties between critical sectors, such as water desalination and sustainable resource development.

Further details were revealed regarding two upcoming conferences focusing on the latest advancements in water desalination and treatment technologies. The agenda will feature workshops and panel discussions showcasing leading experiences and best practices in this vital field, reflecting the essential nature of water as a fundamental resource. Participants are dedicated to enhancing commitment toward a sustainable water future for generations to come.

Dr. Zohair Al-Sarraj, chairman of the ARWADEX organizing committee, emphasized the conference's goal of enhancing partnerships and exchanging expertise. He highlighted the necessity of building capacities and preparing future leaders in the field, stressing the importance of advanced solutions such as artificial intelligence, automation, predictive analytics, big data, and the Internet of Things in improving asset performance and increasing safety and efficiency levels.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Fouzan, chairman of the ARWADEX Association, acknowledged that modern innovations are instrumental in streamlining desalination processes and significantly reducing costs, which contributes to sustainable efficiency and enhances countries' capabilities in addressing water challenges.

He further noted that organizing this conference comes at a time of heightened focus on innovation and technology in various sectors, reflecting a collective commitment to developing effective and sustainable strategies. This encourages collaboration among companies and institutions to share knowledge and experiences.

From the German side, Frank Hofmann, CEO of Expotec, articulated their aim to create a platform where German technology can offer innovative solutions essential for addressing urgent water and infrastructure challenges in the region. Radmila Labus, a representative of BVMW in the Middle East, highlighted Germany's pivotal role in the water sector, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. She affirmed that this Saudi-German partnership will significantly contribute to addressing water scarcity through sustainable and technological solutions.

At the end of the press conference, many questions regarding the conference's details, program, and added value were raised. It was clarified that international partnerships in water desalination represent a real response to growing water challenges. This conference reflects the commitment of Arab nations and international partners to achieving water security and managing sustainable resources, thereby paving the way for a better water future for all.
